Friends of By Five March Catch-up

Our Friends of By Five group met for the second time to connect and chat over coffee (and milkshakes for the kids!). The focus of our discussion was antenatal care, as we know that access to quality antenatal care is key to a foundation for optimal childhood development. Emily and Hannah gave the group an overview of our work in this space, and what we know about antenatal care at the local, and broader level, and where we are working to advocate and influence to ensure all women in the Wimmera Southern Mallee can access quality care close to home.

The group all shared stories of their own antenatal, birthing and postnatal experiences, plus their understanding of what women in their local communities have experienced in accessing care while pregnant, and post-birth. We talked about the importance of being able to access services locally and how we can work as a group to support this.

Having insights into our communities through Friends of By Five members is a great resource and we’re looking forward to our next catch up in a few weeks.
