Significant Improvement in AEDC Results for our Region!
The Wimmera Southern Mallee… take a bow!
For the first time in over 12 years, the National Early Childhood Development Census (AEDC) results show that the Wimmera Southern Mallee is exceeding both the state and national averages in outcomes for children. The 2024 AEDC results reveal a significant drop in developmental vulnerability among local children — an encouraging shift that stands in contrast to broader trends across Victoria, other rural regions, and the nation as a whole.
This milestone is to be celebrated and reflects the dedication and collective effort of our community.
Every educator, professional, volunteer, and community member who has played a role in driving this progress towards better outcomes for our region’s children, we thank you!
While these results are a powerful sign of what’s possible, the work doesn’t stop here. We must ensure this improvement becomes the norm for all children in our region and continue to champion long-term, sustainable change for rural communities everywhere.
