Early Childhood Australia Visits the Wimmera Mallee

Last month, Early Childhood Australia’s CEO, Samantha Page, and Policy Executive, Sarah Wight, visited the Wimmera Mallee to hear first-hand from our communities about the real impact of inaccessible childcare in small rural towns like ours.

While we could have focused on the challenges, we chose instead to share solutions—practical ideas we know could transform the early years landscape. These changes would ripple through our region, profoundly benefiting children, families, and entire communities.

We’re grateful to Samantha and Sarah for taking the time to connect with our local government leaders, education professionals, and parents—and for carrying these conversations forward to Canberra and beyond. Their visit leaves us hopeful that the voices of rural communities will help shape policies that truly work for every child, no matter where they live.
