Once again, we enjoyed a whirlwind visit from our amazing Paediatricians, Dr Nadia and Dr Kate, who joined us from RCH Melbourne to immerse themselves in the people and places that are the Wimmera.

The data has been crunched and the dashboard is complete, we’re proud to share all that’s been achieved through our Paediatric Project in 2024!

The By Five team are thrilled to announce that Dr Kate Monagle will be extending her time working as the Paediatric Fellow dedicated to our Paediatric Project until our current funding expires in June 2025.

Cara and Dr Nadia were absolutely honoured to be asked to present at the Victorian Paediatric Clinical Network forum on Innovative Models of Care in Melbourne.

From Hopetoun to Warracknabeal, our locals made the effort to rug up and caffeinate with Kate and chat all things Wimmera kids.

Cara and Hannah spent a few days in Melbourne this week at the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Centre for Community Child Health, meeting with colleagues new and old with a jam-packed itinerary!

Following the completion of the By Five Paediatric Project two-year evaluation, the By Five team have been working closely with True South Film to bring to life the project’s story and important information found within the evaluation.

Our RCH Paediatricians once again made the journey to immerse themselves in the communities of the Wimmera, visiting more of the places and people that mak up our region.

During his visit to the Wimmera last week, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to present Associate Professor Gehan Roberts with a replica of our prestigious Victorian Early Years Award for ‘Promoting Children’s Health and Wellbeing’ in 2023.

To finish of February and farewell Summer Cara and Hannah welcomed a small group of diverse professionals involved in our flagship Paediatric Project to participate in an early morning breakfast and workshop to assist us in creating a visual to reflect this rural model of paediatric service delivery that integrates with local services on the ground.

This project, in partnership with the Royal Children’s Hospital, was never intended to be ‘just another service’ in the ever coming and going, opening and closing, trying and trialling, revolving door of projects and programs that seem to fly in and fly out of places like ours.

The By Five Paediatric Program has been recognised with a prestigious Victorian Early Years Award 2023 for ‘Promoting Children’s Health and Wellbeing’., in partnership with the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne.

By Five commissioned the Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) to evaluate the paediatric work we have been undertaking over the past two years.
