A great webinar on understanding the AEDC results

Our Steering Committee member and Director of the Centre for Community Child Health, Prof Sharon Goldfeld AM, hosted a webinar with a panel of experts discussing the implications of the 2024 AEDC results and the action necessary to optimise children’s development. There was some compelling data highlighting the trends in children starting school developmentally vulnerable, and how this trajectory can be linked to learning difficulties and other challenges throughout their primary and secondary school years. On the flipside, activities such as reading to your child in their early years can have a positive influence on their development and risk factors later in life.

The AEDC data is key in understanding how to improve outcomes for children. Working to strengthen and build community agency, stacking protective factors such as access to quality ECEC, antenatal care, maternal and child health and parenting support, and taking an integrated approach can help children thrive.
